A New Known-You

Due to the worldwide climate change and global warming, agricultural ministries and agencies around the world are actively holding responsive meetings. Taiwan is in the same situation; our Council of Agriculture has repeatedly asked specialists from across industrial, governmental, and academic sectors to come up with intelligent proposals for solving the issues. They hope that the improvement in research, the development of agricultural technologies and the training of more excellent talents will help in solving problems in crop cultivation caused by the global warming, as pests and diseases rapidly develop when temperature rises. Poor crop growth leads to poor production. The occurrence of global food shortage will only be greater in the future. Apart from planting trees, saving energy and reducing carbon to help lower the temperature, encouraging people to eat vegetables is also a good option to reduce global warming. Hence, having fruit and vegetable varieties that are superior in quality, disease resistant, heat tolerant, damp tolerant, and easy to grow becomes a must.

Under the good guidance of the founder, Mr. Wen-Yu Chen, the bred varieties with superior qualities have been giving good planting results across the United States. In the last two years, Tomato Sugary and Watermelon Shiny Boy have both been awarded with the All American Selections Winner. This means that varieties bred by Known-You Seed possess unique adaptability, superior quality, high yielding and are easy to grow. In this new catalogue, we have specially selected the best of the best varieties from our entire list and have added 25 new varieties for everyone. We hope that farmers who have selected the varieties from this Catalogue can make more profit out of it, and hence there will be greater appreciation at the end user market.

In order to counter-act worldwide climate change and be aware of possible food shortages, Known-You Seed has begun to enhance its breeding programs in heat, dampness and disease tolerance starting in 2007. Known-You Seed has been planning to upgrade more actively the areas of administration, personnel training, facilities, and seed quality improvement. We hope by the beginning of 2011 also to bring out a NEW Known-You to all its supporters.

Our country was founded 100 years ago, and in this meaningful year, we hope to be more effective in creating better varieties that can assist in solving global warming and as well as help ease the food shortage worldwide. Last but not least, we will continue bringing better services to all our consumers and farmers. Once again, we appreciate your trust in and long-term support of Known-You Seed. Thank you.

Embracing the Whole New Era

Since the establishment of Known-You Seed, we havealways engaged in developing the agricultural sector, breeding outstanding new varieties, prospering the rural areas, bringing better welfare to our farmers, as well as all mankind. This year, we are celebrating our 43rd anniversary, and all of us, the second generation now at Known-You, diligently and faithfully follow these corporate goals. We aim to improve the well-being of human kind and have taken up an important mission to “Follow the good tradition and strive to open up the new future.” Apart from committing more efforts in vegetable breeding and carrying it forward, we are also taking actions to counteract the food shortage caused by universal climate change and global warming in the recent years. We believe that encouraging people to eat more vegetables, while cutting down on the consumption of meat, can reduce the air pollution and global warming caused by Methane emissions. Besides, it can bring calmness and peace to our minds, moderate conflicts, bring our life back to nature, beautify the earth, as well as purify the human soul.

In our previous Catalog No. 19 issued in 2010, we have introduced more than 30 new vegetable varieties, hoping to increase the grower’s profit and the customer’s wellbeing. Now, in celebration of the about-to-be-completed Known-You New Building Complex and embracing the new Known-You era, our managerial and R&D teams have selected from “the best of our outstanding collections” and combined them with some other excellent varieties to publish this special edition catalog. Some of the new vegetable varieties include: the very unique and special sweet-&-sour tasting melons “Bonny” and “Prity”, the innovative and beautiful pink-fleshed watermelons “Fain Beauty” and “Dionysos”, the crisp and delicious yellow-fleshed seedless watermelon, and the orangecolored balsam pear. For flower varieties, we present the colorful and elegant Eustoma “Melody” series, which perform well in the hot summer season. This special memorial edition of our catalog also intends to bring you more choices and a smoother guide to “Vegetarian Foods” which are being advocated worldwide these days. At the same time, we anticipate that with the completion of our brand-new Operation Headquarters in the memorable centennial year of our nation, we will devote our utmost efforts to beautify and purify the earth. Moreover, we wish our new generation will also keep developing more diversified and productive vegetable cultivars with higher nutritional value, and bring a more affluent and better life to everyone!
